You and Katniss have been best friends since grade school. You two walked home together, did homework together, you two were basically inseparable. Your dad and her dad were very close friends. Your mother died when you were born, but you learned to live with it and to accept what you had. You loved your father with all your heart. But one day, the coal mine exploded and your father and Katniss' father died. So you were left alone in the world, but Katniss and her family took you in. After the explosion, Katniss' mother wasn't the same anymore. She was deeply depressed, and couldn't take care of you, Prim, and Katniss.
